The rest of my DC Trip

>> Thursday, July 16, 2009

Well, the rest of the trip was fantastic.  In the evening was a cruise along the Potomac River with ice cream after. Saturday brought the east street market & brunch.  My little group then toured downtown dc, stopping at the Library of Congress to see Jefferson's personal library on display, the botanical gardens and a photo shot at the capitol.

In the afternoon was a bbq with some great mingle - action.  Afterwards we all prepped to go see the fireworks.  I ended up on the capitol lawn.  What a show - prior to the fireworks, Barry Manilow, Natasha Beddingfield and Aretha Franklin entertained us.  During the fireworks display was an amazing military fife & drum combo.

What an experience to be at our nations capitol hearing the sounds of drums and flutes...around me were children on parents shoulders, a proud display of flags and patriotism and in the sky the reminder of our great nations history. I was proud to be an American.

Sunday was a great morning of church (held at the DC temple visitors center). What a spiritual uplift! So many strong, active mid-singles gathered at the Lords house. Perhaps the crowning event of the weekend.  The spirit was strong and the music and speakers powerful.  We gathered down the street at a park for some lunch. That concluded our conference.

I am so glad to have had the opportunity to attend such a great event.  It was very enriching and fun.

Stay tuned for more adventures!
